of classic peg-style with robust legs, the arms and torso highlighted by raised medallions, perhaps indicting feline spots, the lunate eyes and mouth finely incised for further delineation, and wearing a banded cap with knot at the back; in gray brown sandstone.

Catalogue Note

The tenon figures are known from the Diquís region, but peg figures were found in sacred enclosures in the Coclé area, suggesting they represented deities or ancestor figures (see Katz 1985:288). Also see von Winning (1968: fig. 517).
