Catalogue Note

The sitter is most likely the younger sister of Marie-Joseph, the seventeen year old daughter of Joseph Favennec with whom Lamb took an interest while visiting Doëlan, Brittany (see Manchester City Art Gallery exhibition catalogue, Henry Lamb, May-June 1984, cat. no.25, p.30).
