Condition
Original canvas.
There one or two slight stains or media marks but otherwise the work is in generally excellent original condition, ready to hang.
Ultraviolet light reveals pigments which fluoresce that are the hand of the artist, but no apparent signs of retouching.
Held in a gilt plaster frame.

Catalogue Note
One of only two completed paintings of the standing nude by Coldstream, the first having been painted in 1937. Painted at Church Row, Hampstead, the subject is Jane Ford, a friend of the artist, and there were at least sixty-eight sittings.
