The board is sound. There are two very minor spots of paint loss near the upper and lower edges. There are some very minor abrasions and some frame paint along the edges of the painting. The varnish is slightly discoloured and the surface is slightly dirty. There are two small old surface abrasions in the upper left quadrant, that appear to have been stabalized by the artist's hand, and there is a further small spot in the centre of the work. Otherwise, the paint surface is in good overall condition. Under ultraviolet light, certain pigments fluoresce but appear to be by the artist's hand. Held in a painted wood frame. The present work is a study for Blue Movement (Vancouver Art Gallery, gift of the Contemporary Art Society), which Frost painted in 1953.
