Description

the central oval medallion caved in relief with the chariot of Diana attended by Bacchus and Ceres, the rim with four plaques carved in high relief with bacchanalian scenes alternating with panels of lion and bacchic masks flanked by fruiting cornucopia and scrolling acanthus leaves, within a gadrooned border.

Condition

Overall in good and fair original condition; minute age cracks filled with dirt to the relief panels; very minute chipping to carved extremities in places; some lifting to ivory strips of tray; the back revealing a fruitwood backing with traces of glue consistent with former framing.
