Acquired by the parents of the present owner; by descent to the present owner circa 1950

Condition

The card and canvas are in good condition, and have been laid on panel. There are scattered spots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably at the left of the extreme upper and lower edges and the along the edges of the upper left corner. Apart from scattered spots of craquelure, some light yellowing of the varnish and some light frame rubbing along the extreme left edge, this work is in good condition, with rich tones and fine detail. Held in a decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
