Condition
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.
This painting has been recently lined. The paint layer is stable and the cracking is in place as a result of the lining. The paint layer has been cleaned and varnished. The only retouches visible under ultraviolet light apply to a group of cracks in the upper left and beneath the left elbow on the right side of the picture. Other than this there do not appear to be any restorations and the painting is obviously in lovely condition..

Catalogue Note
According to Damien Bartoli, the fine quality of the face and hands in Preparing for the Bath suggests that Bouguereau may have assisted Seignac in its creation.
