Description
- Edward Pritchett
- S. Maria della Salute e Palazzo dei Dogi; La Piazzetta con la Punta della Dogana;
- olio su tela, una coppia
- cm 46 x 61, ciascuno
Provenance
Bond Street Galleries Fine Art Dealers, Londra
Condition
Painting relined.
The lining has slightly flattened the thickness of the paint-brushes.
At first hand inspection some both presents abrasions due to the frame visible along the edges and the finishing varnish looks yellowish due to the natural aging of the surface.
S. Maria della Salute:
The ultra violet light reveals thick fluorescent varnish which makes difficult to see the real entity of the restoration (mainly in the sky) and retouches over the buildings on the lower right-hand side corner.
La Piazzetta:
The ultra violet light reveals restoration over the sky next to the Dogana, S. Maria's dome and the buildings on the right-hand side.
A careful cleansing of both is suggested to remove the yellow varnish and give back a natural light.
The overall condition as to the state of preservation is excellent and both look very decorative.
