Catalogue Note
Carpeaux's sketch model of Eve chassée du Paradis was only edited in bronze after the artist's death. The Hébrard foundry produced an exclusive edition limited to fifteen casts. The present cast and the following lot are both inscribed with the letter M which identifies these bronzes as Hébrard foundry chef-modèles. They are the first bronze versions of each model cast by Hébrard and served as the qualitative standard for every cast that followed.
