Catalogue Note

Falguière's bronze portrait bust of Léon Gambetta was given to the Mayor of Amiens, M. Frédéric Petit, in 1877, and is now in the Musée de Picardie in Amiens. Falguière later produced a bronze statue of Gambetta. This sculpture was erected in the place d'Armes in Cahors and a plaster version was exhibited at a major retrospective exhibition of Falguière's works at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1902.
