STRUCTURE
The canvas is original. There is an old patch to the reverse of the canvas at the lower edge. The canvas is undulated, particularly in the upper right section. There is some craquelure and stretch marks to the paint surface, with one or two tiny flecks of paint loss on very close inspection, and some paint separation in places. There is an area of discoloured pigment to the centre of the lower edge corresponding to some old restoration and the patch on the reverse. There is some very light surface dirt, otherwise the work is in good condition.
UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
There is an area of retouching to the centre of the lower edge and evidence of a slightly heightened signature.
FRAME
Held in a simply decorated gold painted frame in fair condition.
