Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas is original and unlined but is slightly loose on the stretcher. The paint surface is in good overall condition; there are a few lines of craquelure to the riders and the bay horse, otherwise clean and ready to hang. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT UV light reveals a few flecks of infilling to craquelure in the sky and some further spots to the faces and around the horse's legs. FRAME Held in a later plaster gilt frame in fair condition. For more information regarding this picture please contact the Victorian & Edwardian Pictures Department on +44 (0)207 293 5718
