Condition

STRUCTURE This picture is unlined an in good condition. The colours are strong and the paint surface appears stable throughout. There is no visible craquelure. The picture may benefit from a light clean. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT This picture has an opaque varnish which makes it difficult to read. There are certainly areas of retouching to the bottom of the girl's basket and minor flecked retouchings to her apron skirt. There is also an area of retouching running horizontally across the canvas in the lower portion which appears to have been made to cracks formed by the lower stretcher pushing against the canvas from the reverse. There are also other minor retouchings elsewhere but none of these retouchings are excessive. FRAME This picture is contained in a moulded plaster frame (in good condition).
