Description
- Angel
- white and red veined alabaster
Provenance
Romano Art Gallery, Rome, 1989
Condition
Overall the condition of the alabaster is very good. There is wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is red, yellow and greyish veining and some inclusions consistent with material. Particularly the top part of the relief is weathered. There are chips to the corners of the background and the around base, the angel's nose, proper left wing and book and further minor chips. There are hairline cracks to the proper right wing and to the background near the angel's proper right elbow. There are several nicks and scratches to the back of the relief. There are traces of polychromy in the crevices, particularly near both feet, at the proper right arm and behind the head.
