Christie's South Kensington, 12 July 2005, lot 370
Condition
The relief is the left side of a larger Annunciation scene. The piece was carved separately from the other parts. There are large losses to the upper right side, including part of the angel's arms and hair. There is a large repaired crack running through the centre of the relief along the angel's waist. Due to the softness of the alabaster there are minor chips throughout. There are holes for mounting on the upper and lower left side. Traces of green, red and yellow polychromy in the background and in the crevices.
