Description

- oil on panel
Provenance
Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 22 April 2005, lot 13A, where acquired by the present owner.
Condition
The support consists of a single stable panel, which is bevelled on all four edges.
There is a vertical crack of 1 cm along the centre of the lower edge and a further vertical crack of 4cm running through Jerome's right hand.
The paint surface is secure and in fairly good condition retaining much of its original impasto. Inspection under UV light reveals some touching out of the craquelure in the torso of the Saint, some scattered retouching to the rocks behind his head and along the lower margin.
