Description

  • 249cm. high; 8ft. 2in.
12-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, signed Windmills & Elkins, Londini Fecit, matted centre with seconds dial and calendar aperture, strike/silent dial in the arch, five pillar movement striking on a bell, the case with broken-arch moulded cresting and turned hood pillars, frets now blocked, broken-arch trunk door and plinth decorated with scenes from classical mythology, the sides decorated in gilt with oriental figures, plinth reduced.

Condition

Dial a little dirty but in generally good condition. Movement is much in need of a clean but appears to have original wheelwork throughout, crutch bent. Case is dirty, top of hood lacking cresting, frets blocked, plinth reduced, backboard split, decoration to right side distressed, many old scuffs, marks and dents throughout. With pendulum (suspension lacking), 2 brass cased weights but no winder or case key
