Condition

This tempera on canvas has not been restored recently. This piece was examined outside of its glazed frame. There are a few dark smudges in the sky at upper left and some of the grayish-purple colored wall may have lost a dusting of color but the carvings here seem to retain most of their original clarity. The paint layer is stable. No further restoration is recommended. The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
