Description

  • 32.5cm., 56.5cm., 34.5cm.; 1ft. ¾in., 1ft. 10¼in., 1ft. 1½in.
the lid containing two compartments with hinged flaps (defective) enclosing secret compartments, the fall- front enclosing two small drawers

Probably acquired by Sir William Courtenay, 2nd Bt. (1675 - 1735) and thence by descent.

Condition

Good `country house' condition. The flaps inside the lid need attention. Both are broken off. Old marks and scratches throughout with some watermarks to the top. Minor losses to veneers to interior.
