Condition

The photographs in this portfolio are newly matted and in generally excellent condition, as is the portfolio box. The plates, with condition notes, are as follows: Hungarian Landscape, Puszta, 1914: There are various tiny linear indentations in the sky that do not break the emulsion. Retouching in the negative is visible in the print. Tisza-Szalka, 6 July 1924: In raking light, faint vertical and diagonal indentations are visible but do not break the emulsion. Bocskay Tér, Budapest, 1914: In raking light, small deposits of original retouching in the sky are visible. Circus, Budapest, 19 May 1920: In the lower left portion of the image, a tiny black deposit of indeterminate nature is on the surface of the print. Hazy Day, Budapest, November 1920 Sunset, Esztergom, 15 May 1917 Wandering Violinist, Abony, 19 July 1921: In raking light, a faint crescent-shaped crease is visible in the upper right corner of the image. The left margin edge is bumped. My Brothers, Budapest, 1919 The Swing, Esztergom, 26 September 1917: Visible in raking light in the upper portion of the image are 3 linear ¼-inch deposits of original retouching that have a slight sheen. Trio, Ráczkeve, 6 May 1923 Heavy Burden, Esztergom, 1916 Country Accident, Esztergom, September 1916 Transport, Braila, Rumania, 19 October 1918: In the center of the image, a tiny black deposit of indeterminate nature is on the surface of the print. Forced March to the Front between Lonié and Mitulen, Poland, 19 July 1915: Visible upon close examination in the lower left corner of the image are 3 tiny pen-point-sized depressions. Budafok, 1919: In raking light, a faint crease is visible in the upper left quadrant of the image. The title page and plate list are lightly bent along the left edge.
