Condition
Overall condition is fine; one looses slightly; fine chasing; good color of gilding with minor wear in places; the marble base with chips to the edges.

Ces candélabres sont visibles à plusieurs reprises dans le recueil de Thomas Hope, Household Furniture (op. cit.), publié en 1807. On sait par ailleurs que le bronzier attitré de Hope, Alexis Decaix, livra au doreur Garrard « une paire de candélabres aux esclaves égyptiens » en octobre 1800 (archives du Victoria and Albert Museum cité dans Thomas Hope, 2008, op. cit.).
