Description

comprising four armchairs and two chairs, each armchair with an outward scrolled rectangular padded back with padded arms and bowed seat on turned tapering leaf cast supports surmounted by a globular finial on toupie feet, the seat-and top-rail centred by a patera flanked by stylised anthemions, the frame studded with flowerheads, with similarly decorated chairs

Condition

Joints sound and sturdy. Gilt-bronze mounts slightly dirty but well cast and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. On one armchair there is a slight movement in the arms. The gilding is worn on one armchair and on part of the mounts on the top and seat rail of the other armchair. Some very minor chips commensurate with age and use which are hardly noticeable. There is a very minor section off the right scroll off the top of the side-rails of one chair that has been chipped off but this can easily be replaced. In overall good condition. total height: 97cm., 3ft.2in. seat rail to floor: 41cm. high; 1ft.4in., width 63cm.; 2ft. 3¾in., chairs: total height 91cm., 2ft.11¾in., floor to seat rail: 45cm. 1ft. 5¾in., 48cm. wide, 1ft. 7in.
