Condition

Overall the condition of the bust is very good. There is some minor wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The polychromy has been refreshed, there are a few minor areas of restoration. There is some splitting and craquelure to the surface consistent with age and material. There is some minor worming. The mount for the reliquary has also recently been redone. The figure is hollow on the inside; it is composed of several sections. There is some wear to the gilding and edges of the metal collar, shoulderpieces and frame on the chest. The relics are stated to be those of Basilius Minor and St. Placidius Minor. The base has wear to the gilding and painted surface, some minor worming and the joints of the separate sections are visible.
