Condition

Overall the condition of the casket is good. There is overall wear and some minor dirt consistent with age. The top surface of the leather displays overall craquelure and is worn to the wood in some places. There are several losses to the brass finals, particularly at the lower corners and underside. There are traces of worming consistent with material, particularly to the back of the casket. The base plate of the handle and the internal part of the lock are slightly loose. The inside was relined with wood and blue and white cotton.
