Description

  • A Fragmentary Serpentine or Steatite Figure of the Royal Scribe Amenemipet
  • Height 12 3/4 in. 32.4 cm.
seated on the ground with both hands formerly resting on his lap, and wearing a broad belt and double wig of striated  and echeloned curls, with ample belly, his wide face with eyebrows and cosmetic lines in relief, the line of inscription remaining on the base translating "Military Scribe of the Lord of the Two Lands, Amenemipet," the two dowel holes in front perhaps for ancient repair or modern restoration.

Condition

Fragmentary as shown, large chip on proper right forearm, note gash above proper left breast; chin, nose, and mouth somewhat abraded and rubbed, edges of base chipped, small nicks and scratches overall.
