Compare to a pair in the National Gallery in Washington (1942.9.143 and 1942.9.144) which have been variously attributed to Jacopo Sansovino, Alessandro Vittoria, and Venetian, anonymous; also see a pair of figures mounted on andirons signed by Guiseppe de Levi in the Victoria and Albert Museum (Planiscig, Venezianische Bildhauer, Vienna, 1921, pp. 634-635).
