Oil on relined canvas. Paint is slightly pressed in the drapery but overall composition has good coloration, especially in cheeks of sitter. Very small patch of overpaint visible in the browns by the child's hand, though not overly disturbing. U.V. light confirms slight overpaint. An older varnish appears to remain, but under UV the painting looks quite nice with no signs of major repair. In a carved and giltwood frame.
