  • 22 1/2 by 41 in. 57 by 104 cm.
depicting in multicolored tesserae between serrated borders two fish swimming to left toward a flowering plant.

Provenance

acquired in 1969 by the present owner from Asfar Bros., Hotel St. George, Beirut [inv. no. 93]

Condition

Tesserae set in heavy modern concrete slab, tesserae in some areas of the fish and one of the leaves are unenvenly set and partially overlaid with crusty material, perhaps indicating areas of restoration, entire surface lightly covered with waxy substance which has turned yellow overtime
