Condition
The canvas is relined.
There is an old restored horizontal tear of approx 5 cm long upper right on the pillar, there is a small diagonal damage of approx 2cm long upper centre and two tiny paint losses, visible in the catalogue illustration, one below the cello and another just above the left hand statue. The paint surface is otherwise secure and under an old very dirty varnish.
This varnish precludes thorough inspection under UV light although scattered old retouchings and some minor strengthenings do fluoresce.
Offered in a gilt plaster frame in fair condition.
