Condition
The canvas has been relined.
The paint surface is secure and in good condition with fine craquelure throughout and under a dirty varnish. There is an old horizontal damage upper centre in the sky approx 20 by 3 cm where retouching is evident. There are some other minor areas of retouching which are revealed by inspection under UV light the largest of which is approx 3 by 3cm, two in the left hand side of the sky and a further two to the left of the group of Putti in the stream. Minor scattered retouchings are also present in the figures of Mary and the Christ Child.
Offered in a gilt wood and plaster frame in fair condition with some knocks.
