Provenance

Anonymous sale, Amsterdam, Mak van Waay, 10 May 1971, lot 239.

Condition

The actual painting is a little less yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an effective though somewhat firm relining. No damages are apparent. The paint surface is under a fairly clear layer of varnish. The paint surface appears well preserved, if slightly thin in some areas. A few scattered discoloured retouchings can be observed in the ceiling, upper left, upper centre, and upper right, and above the figures in the foreground. Inspection under UV light reveals a few tiny additional scattered ones. Offerd in a parcel gilt wood frame in good condition.
