Condition
The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel has
a repaired vertical crack running through the right half of the plank, which is now stable. The crack has been retouched. The panel is bevelled on all sides. The paint surface is sound, if a little abraded in the lower centre. A few tiny scattered discoloured retouchings are visible in the background and in the hair lower centre around the crack. Inspection under UV light reveals an additional small spot of retouching in the beret, in the coat, and in the hair on the left. The face is very nicely preserved.
