Description
- A wooded landscape with shepherds and their flock, a musician and a figure in Roman costume near a pond
- oil on panel
Condition
The actual painting is somewhat deeper in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single piece of panel is bevelled on all sides and has a very light bow towards the upper edge. The paint surface is in very good condition. A few tiny discoloured retouchings can be seen in the sky and a small scratch can be seen in the upper right corner. The paint surface is under a clear varnish layer. Inspection under UV light reveals numerous tiny retouchings throughout, but mainly in the sky, and more on the afore mentioned scratch. Offered in a later ebonised black wood frame, in good condition. (ML)
