The actual paintings are softer and less red in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. Both canvasses are relined (glue). Retouched canvas seams are visible running through the middle. There are a few tiny paint losses along the seam. Otherwise, no major damages are visible to the naked eye. Retouchings can be seen along all edges of both paintings. In the upper painting there's a tiny paint loss and a larger area of retouching in the lower right corner. In the lower painting there's a large repaired scratch in the upper left corner. This is revealed by inspection under UV light, which also reveals additional small scattered retouchings, e.g. in the tree parts, in the landscape and houses. The figures appear to be well preserved. The paint surface is under a very dirty varnish layer. Both paintings are offered unframed. (ML)
