Description

Condition

The canvas has an old relining. The paint surface is secure with fine craquelure throughout. The paint has started to lift centre left above the putti's outstretched hands. There is a very small area of surface damage approx 1cm squared upper left on the edge. Inspection under UV light reveals old scattered areas of repaint, some of which are visible to the naked eye,for example lower left and along the upper left vertical edge. Offered in a wooden gilt frame with inlaid mother of pearl and simulated tortoise shell, with some losses.
