Catalogue Note
The design relates to the union between Hans Heinrich (Lanz) von Liebenfels zu Günelhard-Thurgau and Elizabeth Sybille Reichlin von Meldegg, daughter of Andreas Reichlin von Meldegg. According to Thöne, two other designs are known with the same patrons: one by Hans Balthasar Federlin, dated 1574 and another circular design of 1585. The helmets are identical to those in another dated design of 1577, signed with initials DL, also formerly in the von Ziegler collection.
