The painting is in fair condition. It has an old relining but the paint surface is well preserved. It was originally an oval and now made up into its present regular shape. There are quite a few flaking areas and paint losees in the lower part under tha hand of the Virgin, in the white drapery of the child, in the blue drapery of the Virgin, in the background to the right and above the heads. Some splashes of white paint to the left of St Anne, visible to the naked eye. Under a very dirty varnish. UV light: Under a green varnish. No retouche visible. The painting needs a restoration to fix the paint surface and improve the relining.
