- 153cm. high, 90cm. wide, 43cm. deep; 5ft.¼in., 2ft.11½in., 1ft. 5in.
after the model by Jacob-Desmalter, the fall-front enclosing an interior of architectural form, with eight short drawers, four of which are spring operated, flanked by green marble columns
Condition
This secretaire is in fine restored condition. The gilt-bronze has been restored to a high standard and the surface has been repolished, there are some very minor cracks in places following the grain of the wood as to be expected. The interior is good with a finely tooled replaced leather writing surface. There is some minor scuffing to the surface of the bronzed monopodiae.

D.Ledoux-Lebard, Le Grand Trianon, Vol I, Paris, 1975, p. 172, for the original model upon which this piece is based, which was part of the original furnishings for the Third Consul, Le Brun, who was installed in 1800, in the pavillon de Flore in the Tuileries, then in 1806, in l'hôtel de Noailles. The inventory of l'hôtel de Noailles in 1806 listed in the bedrioom: `Un petit secrétaire ou bonheur du jour en bois acajou orné de bronze ciselé et doré au mat 650F'.
