Description
Composed of 59 natural pearls measuring approximately 12.20 to 6.30 mm., the clasp set with a marquise-shaped diamond weighing approximately 1.90 carats, mounted in platinum, length 22½ inches.
Condition
Good condition. The round to near round, white to slightly cream-colored pearls present varying degrees of pink, green and purple overtones, a predominantly satin-like luster with some high luster and waxy examples. Minor blemishing with generally very nice skins. Approximately 7 examples bear minor surface cracking and/or peeling. Pearl #29 from the female end of the clasp reveals what could be mistaken for an exposed bead at the drill hole, but is simply a layer of pearl with lesser orient. The antique marquise-cut diamond is approximately G-H color, VS clarity. The string is knotted, but is stretched and soiled and should be restrung in the future.
