Description
- Cartier, Paris
- 18 karat gold, platinum, enamel, diamond and alligator
The rectangular-shaped clutch composed of black glossy alligator, black enamel and rose-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.20 carats, measuring approximately 7¾ by ½ by 5 inches, signed Cartier, Paris Londres New York, Made in France, partial numbering, maker's marks, French assay marks.
Condition
Good condition overall. The alligator exterior and black leather interior remains in very good condition. The black enamel bears very minute chipping to the edges with only one pinpoint-sized chip exposing the gold beneath. Scratching to the interior of the gold trim where the thumbpiece has caused abrasions. The numerous rose-cut diamonds are approximately 2.20 carats, near colorless and decorative in quality. The thumbpiece bears a French assay mark for gold, but the top tests as platinum suggesting the diamond-set elements may be composed of platinum-topped white gold. Signed and bearing maker's mark on the gold trim; thumbpiece bearing maker's mark. There appears to be numbering on the gold trim, but its placement makes it difficult to read, could be 61716.
