Description
Designed as an articulated band of 5 arched plaques engraved with scroll and interlacing patterns, applied with black enamel, suspending a heart-shaped locket of similar design, overall set with 23 emerald-cut, square and calf's-head-cut emeralds, further decorated with 31 old-mine and rose-cut diamonds, length 6¾ inches, maker's mark and French assay marks, one diamond missing.
Condition
Locket with inner glazed compartment, outside reverse is dented. Some loss to black enamel. Diamonds are of decorative quality, several with a brown tint, one tiny diamond missing at the thumbpiece. Emeralds are predominantly medium green, moderately included, several are chipped, cracked or exhibit surface-reaching inclusions. With maker's mark LC within a lozenge, back of piece is engraved Mrs. L.E. Block. Fitted with a safety chain. Nice engraving detail throughout and in reasonably good condition, especially considering age.
