Description

The pendant composed of an emerald cameo carved in Roman Imperial style with the portrait of a bearded man, circa 1875, within a black enamel bezel and frame of old mine diamonds weighing approximately 3.25 carats, mounted in gold and silver, supported on a flexible, tapering necklace set with numerous old mine and rose-cut diamonds weighing approximately 6.90 carats, mounted in gold and silver, length 15 inches, one segment detaches to shorten, pendant detaches, one diamond missing.

Condition

Diamonds are of decorative quality, many of them with a brown tint. The carved emerald is semi-translucent and heavily included, with surface-reaching inclusions. Heavily tarnished, but in good condition overall. Detachable segment measures 2 3/4 inches, one diamond missing from that segment.
