Description
- Seaman Schepps
Comprising a necklace, bracelet, ring and pair of earclips, the graduated necklace of floral design composed of numerous collet-set oval and round cabochon opals, accented by round diamonds weighing approximately 7.35 carats, the remaining pieces set with numerous fancy-shaped opals, and set with round diamonds weighing a total of approximately 3.50 carats, necklace and bracelet lengths 19 and 7½ inches, ring size 7¼, necklace signed Seaman Schepps. With signed fitted box. Bracelet and earclips not illustrated.
Condition
The mountings in very good condition. The transparent to translucent opals present varying degrees of play-of-color with reds and greens predominating. Several of the opals in the necklace and one opal in the earrings are significantly crazed; generally minimal crazing to the remaining opals. The bracelet (not illustrated) measuring approximately 8 inches, is of similar design to the necklace; the earclips (also not illustrated) measuring approximately 2 inches with small flowerhead tops suspending larger flowerhead pendants. The diamonds are approximately H-I-J color, VS-SI clarity. Earclips presently fitted with carrier wires (designed to act as safety catches by hooking onto the ears from behind). The opals are not as yellow as pictured in the catalogue. Please note that we believe these pieces were made in the late 1940's.
