Description
The pearl drop measuring approximately 14.7mm surmounted by a circular-cut diamond, to a chain spectacle-set with circular- and single-cut stones, length approximately 400mm, later extensions, hinged pendant bail, drop detachable, signed Mtd. Cartier London and numbered, case Cartier, New York.
Condition
Stamped 750 for gold. Signed Mtd Cartier London and numbered HLS00318. Please refer to report for details on the pearl. Creamy white colour with light grey overtone, good lustre, minor blemishes. Principal diamond estimated to weigh approximately 1.95 carats, in our expert's opinion colour I, clarity VS1, thin girdle, extra facets, nicks around girdle. Diamonds on chain estimated to weigh approximately 1.65 carats in total. SIgns of normal wear, in good condition.

This pendant was a gift from Sir William Orpen, R.A., R.H.A. 1878-1931, the great Victorian artist, to his mistress, Mrs Evelyn St George, and was gifted through Vivien, Mrs St George's fifth and last daughter, to the present owner.
