Sapphire and diamond tiara, 1900s

Designed as a series of thirteen graduated stylised ribbon and scroll elements, set with circular-, single-cut, cushion-shaped and oval diamonds, each highlighted at the centre with an oval sapphire, inner circumference approximately 485mm.

Metal tested as platinum and gold. Total diamond weight stated to be approximately 113.00 carats, mixed in colour and clarity. For the most part H-K colour, VS-I clarity. Total sapphire weight stated to be 25.46 carats. Sapphires a dark hue and strong saturation of colour, probably a later replacement. Retailed by Harry Winston, New York. Some scratches to the mount and minor tarnish consistent with use and age. Signs of repair, especially to the sapphire stettings. Could be worn as a necklace, with clasp fitting. In good condition.
