Condition
This painting is in beautiful condition. The canvas is unlined and stretched on its original stretcher. The paint layer is clean but not varnished, as the artist would've intended.
The only areas where some attention should be paid is in the blanket over the figure, right up against the curtain in the lower left and where a few small paint losses have occurred which require some consolidation and retouching. This seems to be an isolated occurrence and no other similar issues are apparent. There are a couple of small areas, one in the curtain nearer to the left edge, which in theory could be retouched, but they may also be original. There appear to be no restorations and the picture is generally in beautiful state.
