Description

  • Achille Etna Michallon
  • Studies of trees
  • a set of three, all oil on paper laid down on canvas

Condition

A set of three. Paper laid down on canvas. All three canvases have been relined. All three show repairs to scratches and minor tears to paper. Largely though, these retouchings have been limited to the periphery of the composition and do not include the foliage of the trees. Along the edges, retouchings have been applied where prior frames might have rubbed the edges. The paintings seem to have retained much of their original coloration, impasto, and paint quality. All three are in identical and gilt wood frames with minor abrasions to the gilding.
