Description
The sugarloaf cabochon emerald measuring approximately 11.95 by 10.95 by 7.24 mm., baguette and fancy-shaped baguette diamonds weighing approximately 1.75 carats, mounted in platinum, size 6 1/2.
Condition
The emerald and mounting with signs of wear throughout. The top of the emerald bears numerous shallow abrasions and would benefit from a polish. The mounting shows general wear; the shank thinned and out of round. The emerald is a vibrant medium-deep very slightly bluish green and lightly included. Emerald is slightly loose in mounting but secure. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS clarity.
Please note the AGL certificate states the approximate weight of the emerald to be 8.20 carats; Sotheby's estimates the weight to be closer to 7.50 carats. The emerald was not removed from the mounting to obtain an exact weight to avoid possible damage to the stone during the unmounting/remounting process.
