Description

The flowerhead of concave form designed as three lobed petals of highly polished gold, the center decorated with an amethyst drop encircled by 6 old-mine diamonds, signed Cartier.  Together with a gift box from Bullock's Wilshire.

Condition

Very good condition with minimal wear to the gold. The overall color of the brooch is slightly paler than indicated by the catalogue illustration. The amethyst is reflected by the gold petals, causing the brooch to take on a various appearances depending on the angle at which it's held. The medium-light purple amethyst is decorative in quality with eye-visible fissures and color zoning. The diamonds, weighing approximately 1.30 carats, are approximately I-J color, SI clarity. Additionally signed US Pat. 2199222.
