Description
The 2 emerald-cut emeralds weighing approximately 8.00 carats, framed by old-mine diamonds and topped by diamond-set bows, the whole set with 44 old-mine diamonds weighing approximately 6.50 carats, fitted with modern clip-backs.
Condition
Good condition with irregularities to the mountings in keeping with their 19th century origin. The emeralds are a medium slightly bluish green (less blue and slightly lighter than indicated by catalogue illustration); moderately included with light abrading to the facet junctions. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, SI clarity. Two of the diamonds are simulated: one on the right-hand bow loop of the earclip pictured at left, and one on the left-hand bow loop of the earclip pictured at right. The mountings were originally gold and silver and are now plated, possibly with rhodium; the clip backs are modern 14K white gold.
